The Mens 400m is for me the most anticipated Track & Field event of the Olympics program.

3 great athletes will go all out against each in their quest for Olympic Gold.

World Champion W. Van Niekerk , Olympic defending Champion K. James and US Legend L. Merritt promise fireworks in the events Final.

Most experts predict that the S. African Van Niekerk is the possible winner with strong challenge coming from K. James but i relly fancy L. Merritt to go out and win the Olympic Gold. The American is in great form and the only questions raised IMO is the fatigue from sprinting in both the 200 & 400. I expect a really fast race here and perhaps a sub 43.50 time.

Times achieved so far might not lead you there but i strongly believe it's gonna be a great race.

All other sprinters look like they are miles behind these 3 and i can't see anyone challenging for a medal place.

1. L. Merritt

2. W. V. Niekerk

3. K. James

Really looking forward for this event... It looks loaded with talent and great athletes.

First of all we have the WR Holder U. Bolt in an event that he looks invisible for 8 years now. If he has no injury problems he's the hot favourite for a 3rd consecutive Olympic Gold.

Everybody is focusing on J. Gatlin to provide he's major threat but i believe that another US sprinter L. Merritt is the dark horse in the race. As you can easily see in the Performance List he has some fast times in an event that its not theoretically his best.

Other athletes like A. Edward, M. Francis and 3rd US athlete A. Webb also have the potential to clock sub 19.80 times.

My prediction for the Medals

1. U. Bolt

2. L. Merritt

3. J. Gatlin

in that order.

I'm gonna start the Olympics preview with the Athletics Track & Field Events. First of all the Sprints.

First of all the King of Track and Field the 100m.

In my mind Usain Bolt stands out as the hot favor to Win an unrepresented 3rd consecutive Olympic Gold.

As you can see in the 2016 Performance List he's biggest threats come from the US in the sights of J. Gutlin & T. Bromell. The French J. Vicaut doesn’t possess the mental attitude to go out and win it. N. Ashmeade and Y. Blake are the 2 Jamaicans to follow Bolt in the sprint events but both don’t really look in a condition to go to Rio and provide an upset by winning gold.

In my opinion the medals are going to the trio of

U. Bolt
J. Gutlin
T. Bromell

and perhaps in that particular order also.

The rest of the field doesn't seem capable of bringing a strong contest for a medal position.

If Usain Bolt is healthy then it will come down to the above Trio. As a dark horse i like the sights of T. Bromell due to his solid technique and upcoming potential. But it will probably come down to a 2 men race between U. Bolt & J. Gatlin
